How Little Cab is Helping Men Send Money to Their Women

David IndejeBy David2023-08-15No Comments2 Mins Read
Safaricom-backed Little Cab can be downloade from from Play Store for android users and App Store for iOS users.

Little Cab, Kenya’s fastest-growing ride-hailing company has noticed a fascinating usage pattern on its platform.

The popular ride-hailing service allows users to book rides, pay for them, and even transfer funds to other users through its app.

It appears that a significant number of men are topping up their Little Wallets using their M-PESA or Bank Cards, specifically to transfer funds to their women’s ride wallets.

    Why are they doing this?

According to Kamal Budhabhatti, Chief Executive Officer of Little, to understand the trend, they conducted an anonymous survey and engaged in conversations with several men and women.

“What we learned from this was surprising, amazing, and astonishing! he says.

“It turns out that when a man extends an invitation to a lady for a date, he is frequently asked to send the taxi fare for her journey. Unfortunately, on many occasions, this money sent for the taxi fare ends up being used for other purposes. Someone mentioned “Kukula fare”!!

“In response to this challenge, many Kenyan men have adopted an innovative approach – instead of sending money directly on M-PESA, they load funds into the woman’s Little RIDE wallet. This strategy ensures that the money is dedicated solely for its intended purpose, which is to take a Taxi and not be misused.”

Whatever the motivation, the women who receive these funds are delighted.

They can use them to book rides without worrying about cash or safety. They can also enjoy the features and benefits of the Little Ride app, such as discounts, rewards, and referrals. And they can feel the care and generosity of their men.

Little Cab is happy to facilitate this trend of men sending money to their women through its app.

“Remarkably, this trend appears to be unique to Kenyan users and is not observed in other countries where Little operates,” says Kamal.

The company also operates in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia.

Little App runs on iOS, Android, and Windows devices.

The app also provides live GPS-enabled maps for pickups.
